Albin yachts from our own listings first, then the wider market.
The Albin name dates to 1899, when Lars Albin Larsson founded a marine engine company in Kristinehamn, Sweden. The company began building its own fiberglass boats in the mid-1960s, starting with the Vega 27 sailboat in 1965, and its Albin 25 family cruiser, offered in sail and power versions, reached the United States in the late 1960s. More than 2,000 Albin 25s were built in Kristinehamn between 1968 and about 1981. The Swedish company went bankrupt in 1982.
In the United States, Albin Marine of Cos Cob, Connecticut, sold boats under the Albin name. Following the market toward trawler-style cruisers in the late 1970s, by the 1980s it offered Taiwan-built trawlers such as the Albin 36, and it later added express fishing and family boats, including the Tournament Express models. Albin Marine stopped building boats in the fall of 2007, when its range ran from 26 to 45 feet.
