Curtis Stokes

Curtis Stokes was born in Lewes, Delaware and grew up in nearby Rehoboth Beach, Delaware and St. Michaels, MD until he moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1992. Curtis grew up on the water and around boats through many years of fishing, sailing and hunting up and down the East Coast of the U.S. and The Bahamas.

Lars Bergstrom

For over 30 years Lars has been working with and sailing on a wide variety of sail, power and commercial vessels. He hopes to put this experience to use by helping to take the hassle out of purchasing or selling your next vessel.Lars started sailing with his father on the Chesapeake Bay and small ponds around Seaford, Delaware. After serving in the National Guard he traveled extensively with his brother, Carl, on their 28’ sloop and began restoring boats and working in boatyards around the Florida Keys. He provided everything from bottom paint and repairs to high-tech marine topside coatings, electrical wiring and sailboat rigging. During this time, he also crewed and skippered on many vessels including a trans-Atlantic voyage in 1992, and as 1st Mate for a year aboard the 79′ day charter schooner “Jolly Rover’ in Lewes, DE and St. Pete Beach, FL.

Jack Kelly

Captain Jack Kelly has spent over 35 years in the marine industry, both as a recreational and commercial boater. Jack also operates the TowBoatUS facility in Philadelphia, which covers over 80 miles of the Delaware and Schuykill Rivers.Jack also instructs the boating safety courses from Basic Boating Safety through to the USCG 200 Ton Near Coastal Captains Course. Committed to marine safety and training, he has been a member of the USCG Auxiliary since 1992 and is currently their Training, Marine Safety and Environmental Officer.

Mary Catherine is a native of Virginia, born and raised in Charlottesville. She has a degree in Marketing Communications from Mary Baldwin University, in Staunton Virginia. While in college, Mary Catherine had the chance to attend Miami University through the University of Ohio and Forfar Field Station on Andros Island, Bahamas. While taking classes and living aboard a 45ft Gulfstar, Mary Catherine traveled throughout the Exuma Islands in the Bahamas and fell in love with the boating life.

Herman grew up in the Netherlands, where being out on the water and being around boats was the natural thing to do.He then became a marine engineer and with this background he traveled and worked in South America, Africa, and Jamaica. During the 70’s Herman ended up in the USA working for one of the larger multi-national corporations that needed project engineers to manage their super tanker fleet.

Lin Earley was born and raised in Chesapeake, Virginia. At age 12 while fishing the tidal waters of Elizabeth River in a 14 ft. skiff, he fell in love with boating. A graduate of Virginia Tech, Lin’s first career was in finance and banking. His last position was regional president for Bank of America in the Hampton Roads Virginia market. Upon retirement from banking Lin managed a public, Venture Capital Company.Purchasing or selling a yacht is a major investment / financial decision and Lin’s years of financial experience and negotiation skills are a natural for professional brokerage. Combined with extensive knowledge of boating, boat maintenance and a dedication to customer service, Lin is a perfect choice to assist you in buying or selling your dream.

Jim was born in Coral Gables, Florida, and was introduced to boating at a very early age. Growing-up in a boating community, he spent most of his time on Florida Bay and the Keys. Summers were spent aboard the family cruisier in the Bahamas with the neighborhood Yacht Club.After attending U. of Miami, Jim got married and moved to the Islamorada area, where the family boathouse served as his home for almost 15 years. While working as a dock master at a local marina, Jim acquired his first USCG license, and soon after, started his own commercial fishing business.

Sean started his boating and yachting life in the Puget Sound region of Washington State, at the ripe old age of just a few weeks old. Shortly after he was born and released from the hospital he was on a Columbia 26 headed to Victoria BC up Puget Sound through Admiralty Inlet across the Straights of Juan de Fuca in the middle of February.

Dan Fosso

Dan grew up boating in the Pacific Northwest both recreationally and sometimes as crew for commercial salmon fishing—most recently in Bristol Bay, Alaska. While he pursued law and banking for over 20 years, he never lost sight of the ocean. He spent time yachting in the San Juan Islands, Washington near his hometown. He also spent time boating in Mexico, captained a charter in the Whitsunday Islands of Queensland, Australia, enjoyed sailing and fishing while living in California and Hawaii, and later enjoyed boating and yachting off the islands of Bali in Indonesia where he lived for many years. Dan says that he saw the ugliest water ever off of Cape Horn in the course of circumnavigating South America while underway to the Falkland Islands. He was glad that was a large ship and he was not the Captain! He always enjoys hearing his clients’ stories of the sea.Recently, Dan returned to the Northwest to be near family and joined Curtis Stokes & Associates, Inc., last year after successfully passing the well regarded Yacht Broker Institute training courses. From his banking in law and finance, he is versed in closing deals both for buyers and sellers and keen on protecting his client’s best interests. He always enjoys interacting with people who also enjoy the sea! He is a member of the MTOA Motor Trawler Owners Association and holds his Washington Safe Boaters Safety Certification.

Fletcher C. Bauman

Fletcher C. Bauman was born and raised on the Eastern Shore of MD in Easton, and grew up in Royal Oak, and St. Michaels MD. Fletcher has over 48 years of racing experience, 1973 to present. His experience on the Chesapeake Bay includes racing and cruising on his family’s Islander 36 as tactician and helmsperson. His family relocated to the USVI in 1984, where Fletcher logged many miles of blue water cruising and racing on his family’s Wellington 52’, Calinda. His extensive Chesapeake Bay racing includes the J22 World Championship, 10 th place in 1994 as crew, and in 2004, 5th place in the Silver Fleet as helmsperson.

Michael has had a passion for being on the water since his first water skiing lesson at the age of 8. It was the same year he began his small landscape construction and later full service tree care company. Mechanical experience became second nature with every breakdown, repair, and resurrection of any piece of equipment from a rake handle all the way to a full scale diesel engine rebuild. His equipment has always been older, unique, have a story, and live on with his constant attention to detail. It should be no stretch that, all the while, this has fed a passion for boats that helped drive him to a second business line of restoring classic wood and fiberglass cabin cruisers.

A native of Miami, Florida Jason grew up around boats and boating. He started sailing at the Coconut Grove Sailing Club at the age of 8 and got his first boat, a sunfish, at 11. He worked for his father, a professional yacht captain, 7 summers running from the age of 14; working out of Jones Boat Yard and Richard Bertram Yacht Yard, maintaining Trumpy, Burger and Feadship motor yachts. A graduate of Florida State University and study programs in London, England and Urbino, Italy, Jason moved to Washington DC to attend graduate school at George Washington University; followed by a career in international distribution with a focus on consultative sales, marketing and contract negotiation. A long-time resident of the Annapolis, Maryland, Jason is a member of the Chesapeake Yacht Club and an Eastport Yacht Club alumnus. Jason cruised the Chesapeake for 10 years aboard his Columbia 10.7, before becoming an avid racer; participating in the Pirates Cove Race Club's Wednesday night series on the West River, as well as various CBYRA Bay races for the last 23 seasons. After teaching his son’s to sail aboard their Hunter 27, Jason and his family can now be found cruising the Chesapeake aboard their Beneteau 381. We are pleased this seasoned sales professional and life-long boating enthusiast has joined our team here at Curtis Stokes Associates; where he is focused on helping sellers find the right buyer and buyers find right boat.
