About American Tugs

American Tugs were sturdily built in the Pacific Northwest, in La Conner, Washington. The company was formed in late 1999 by three boatbuilders who had met while working at Nordic Tugs, together with naval architect Lynn Senour. Their first model, the American Tug 34 (later renamed the 365), was based on a 34-foot commercial fishing boat designed by Senour and was introduced in 2000.

These handsome trawlers were constructed in fiberglass, from 36 to 48 feet, on semi-displacement hulls, and nearly all had a single engine. The line added the 435 in 2005, the 485 in 2009, the 395 in 2010 and the 362 in 2020, and more than 250 boats were delivered. Kadey-Krogen bought the company in 2023. In July 2026 American Tug filed for Chapter 7 liquidation alongside Kadey-Krogen Yachts, and the La Conner yard closed.
