Sea Ray boats from our own listings first, then the wider market.
Sea Ray dates to 1959, when Cornelius Nathaniel “Connie” Ray III bought the assets of Carr-Craft, a small Detroit company that built fiberglass boats. Its early boats were built in Oxford, Michigan. Ray was an early fiberglass boatbuilder, and he brought automotive styling to his boats by hiring General Motors designer Harley Earl, whose car-inspired dashboards and upholstery helped establish the brand.
The Sundancer cabin cruiser followed in the 1970s, and Ray sold the company to Brunswick Corporation in 1986. In 2018 Brunswick ended Sea Ray's sport yacht and yacht lines to concentrate on sport boats and cruisers. Sea Ray, now based in Knoxville, Tennessee, builds most of its models in Vonore, Tennessee, and also builds boats in Merritt Island, Florida. Its current SPX, SDX, SLX and Sundancer models run from about 19 to 42 feet.
