About Selene Yachts
Selene trawlers come from Jet-Tern Marine, founded in Dongguan, China, in 1998 by naval architect Howard Chen, who had managed shipyards in Taiwan. The first Selene reached the United States in 1999, and more than 400 have been built. Since 2018 all Selenes have come from the company's own shipyard in Zhuhai, China, which recently added a 400,000-square-foot expansion with a marina and a 300-ton Travelift.
“Grace and Strength” is the philosophy of Selene. The builder uses solid fiberglass under the waterline, with no core, and its designs feature a Portuguese bridge and skeg-protected propellers and rudders. The range now runs from 38 to 128 feet across the Voyager, Artemis, Classic Explorer, Ocean Explorer and Ocean Expedition lines. Owners have their own association, and an annual Selene rendezvous is held at Roche Harbor, Washington.
