About Silverton Yachts

Silverton dates to 1969, when brothers Warren and John Luhrs bought Silverton Sea Skiffs, a young boatbuilder in Toms River, New Jersey. The brothers had started out in their father Henry's business, Henry Luhrs Sea Skiffs in Morgan, New Jersey. Their Luhrs Marine Group went on to add Hunter Marine sailboats in 1973, Mainship trawlers in 1979 and Luhrs fishing boats in 1986.

Silverton built convertibles, motor yachts and Sport Bridge models, and the Luhrs Marine Group's powerboat brands were based in Millville, New Jersey. Production stopped in early 2012, and the group filed for Chapter 11 that April. That July, Egg Harbor Yachts bought the Silverton line and began building a 36-foot Silverton at its plant in Egg Harbor City, New Jersey.
